Product Description

Crystal Violet Lactone (CVL) is a leuco triphenylmethane lactone dye that appears as a slightly yellow crystalline powder. In neutral form it is colorless; under acidic or developer conditions it ring-opens to form a resonance-stabilized carbocation with intense color. This reversible halochromic behavior is widely used in microencapsulated carbonless copy papers, thermochromic inks, and specialized chromogenic applications. CVL offers high color strength, good compatibility with standard capsule oils and reliable switching in developer systems when properly formulated.
